Dean Watson is a highly knowledgeable UAS professional, with 24 years of civilian and military UAS experience, acquired in the UK and on operations worldwide as a UAS Accountable Manager, Pilot, Mission Commander, and Instructor.

During his military career, Dean served over 22 years in the British Army's first UAS Regiment, deploying on numerous operations in Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan, where he operated the Phoenix, Hermes 450 and Desert Hawk 3 Unmanned Aerial Systems.

Dean attended the Defence Intelligence and Security College, where he completed the United Kingdom Imagery Analysis Course, and was employed as an imagery intelligence analyst in addition to his flying duties.

As a UAS Instructor, Dean delivered fundamental, and conversion-to-type training to ab-initio UAS Pilots and Operators, continuation training, and pre-deployment training to prepare crews for operations.

In the latter stages of his military career, Dean specialised in flight safety, and occurrence reporting, management, and investigation. In these roles, he also helped develop policy and standardise operational and management practices and procedures.

After leaving the military, Dean was employed as the Accountable Manager and Head of Flight Operations at a UAS start-up, where he authored the UAS Operating Safety Case for conducting commercial UAS operations over populated urban areas, in complex airspace.

Dean has excellent regulatory and technical knowledge and an extensive background in the employment of multirotor, Tactical, and Miniature UAS in both VLOS and BVLOS conditions.
